Midland Maori Leaders Recognised
Effective Māori health leadership is critical to setting the foundation for addressing health disparities and to achieve improved Māori health outcomes. 100 Māori Leaders is part of the Henry Rongomau Bennett Foundation, Leadership strategy and identifies Māori at the top of health career pathways, to inspire the Māori health workforce and generate interest from others to look at careers in health. Māori and other leaders were approached to write kōrero awhi about the leadership qualities including leaders within the Midland region.
Of these highlighted within the Midland region are Diana Rangihuna-Kopua consultant psychiatrist and Head of Department at Hauora Tairawhiti and sits on the Midland Clinical Governance network. Donna Blair, General Manager at Te Utuhina Manaakitanga Trust and Chair of the Midland Addiction Leadership network and member on the Te Huinga o Nga Pou Hauora the Midland Maori Leadership network alongside Phyllis Tangitu, General Manager Maori Health at Lakes DHB.
