“Uhi Wero, Uhi Taia, tērā te tupu o te rākau” ‘taking on new challenges…creating new directions and outcomes’

Purpose
The purpose of Uhi Wero, Uhi Taia is to articulate the aspirations of Midland whānau to ensure their future survival, development, and prosperity through an Addiction Wellbeing Framework. The 2018 He Ara Oranga Report states that current services are failing our whānau, so this document provides a blueprint, or navigational chart, for the expression of our whānau self-determination.
Aspirations
Wellbeing is improved through the targeting of dedicated resources to meet whānau needs and aspirations. Whānau will be supported to engage in activities that enhance their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.
- Whānau is important to us
- Identity, connections, and belonging is important to us
- Whakapapa / heritage is important to us
- Listen to us…. hear what we say
- See us as us
Our Challenge Going Forward
The Addiction challenges identified in each of the Aspiration sections do not require significant investment but does demand a change in behaviour and a change in the way we currently do things.
